DJI has brought us the newest member of its celebrated Mavic series: the Mavic Mini. As relative the size of an iPhone 11 but powerful enough to capture the footage as they look straight out of a film studio.
The first thing you notice about the Mavic Mini is its size. With the weighting for only 249g/8.7oz, relatively 2 oz heavier than an iPhone 11. The Mavic Mini is a foldable pocket-size drone that can be carried anywhere. Also, Mavic Mini compact size and its weight will be free from the FAA registration requirement. The U.S. and other countries have recently stated for drone above 250g/8.8oz will have to be registered. In some cases, a drone pilot license must be obtained for drone fall into these weight requirements before operating. With the weight of Mavic Mini, anyone is allowed to fly it in countries like the U.S. and Canada with no paperwork required.
The Mavic Mini might be small and compact, however, it gives outstanding cinematic shoot well above its weight class. The 3-axis gimbal-stabilized camera that brings you smooth 2.7k video and 12MP still photo. DJI has released QuickShots feature for the Mavic Mini which allows pilots to capture unique, complex, and Hollywood-alike shots. A new CineSmooth feature which gives an extra-smooth shot by regulating the Mavic Mini speed and its movements. Both features are available via DJI’s new Fly app.

The Mavic Mini is designed for the masses, the Mavic Mini includes several safety features that make it suitable for novice pilots and veterans alike. For starters, it’s equipped with a prop guard on each of its four propellers that deliver 360-degrees of protection from accidental bumps, crashes, and hard landings. Thanks to its downward vision system and onboard GPS sensor, the Mini can hover precisely in place in case you need to pause or get your bearings. On top of those features, the DJI Fly app also provides an interactive tutorial mode that will teach new pilots the ropes in no time.
